Making a difference means knowing the laws and having the correct information.
NOTE: On December 20, 2019, the President signed legislation to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and raise the federal minimum age of sale of tobacco products to 21. Effective immediately, it is illegal under federal law to sell any tobacco product to anyone under 21 years of age. Under federal law, tobacco products include but are not limited to:
- cigarettes
- cigars
- e-cigarettes
- pipe tobacco
- smokeless tobacco
- electronic nicotine delivery systems
- vaporizers
- vape pens
- e-liquid containing nicotine
- cigar tips and filters or any other products made or derived from tobacco.
Due to the change in federal law, several state statutes and regulations will need to be amended. We will update our online training as soon as possible. In the interim, Alabama tobacco permit holders are required to follow the new federal law with regards to the sale of tobacco products.
