The 2024 Alabama Substance Abuse Youth Summit (SAYS) will take place Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Frazer Church, located at 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117. More than 350 state and local government agency representatives, law enforcement officers, healthcare and social workers, educators, court officials, child advocates and professional service providers are expected to attend the fourth annual conference.

Below, you will find a link to the 2024 Alabama SAYS registration page. Also available for your review are the 2024 Tentative Agenda, photos from last year’s conference and a video that explains the purpose of Alabama SAYS.

Our mission is to have decision-makers and service providers in the same room at the same time, listening to the same information, in order to forge partnerships, and develop strategies that will better protect Alabama’s youth. The SAYS conference is free of charge, provides lunch and offers Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Legal Education Units (CLEs) to attendees. All you have to do is register.

The Alabama SAYS Planning Committee is excited to present this year’s excellent list of subject matter experts and speakers. While the agenda is still “tentative,” here’s the proposed line-up: Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall; Sue Thau, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA); Nathan Wray, Prevention Coordinator, Roane County (TN) Anti-Drug Coalition and Elana Merriweather, Adolescent and Adult Program Manager, Alabama Department of Mental Health. Also speaking are Dr. Carmela Drake, Alabama State University, NAADAC U.S. Addictions Educator of the Year and former CNN, MSNBC and Fox News anchor Lauri Dhue, the Chief Brand Officer for RecoveryEducation.com.
