The Alabama ABC Board is responsible for promulgating, regulating, and enforcing laws regarding tobacco, tobacco products, electronic nicotine delivery systems, and alternative nicotine products within the State of Alabama. Throughout this section, you will find helpful links to guide you through:
- Obtaining the proper permit to sell tobacco/nicotine products in the State of Alabama
- Maintaining compliance once an ABC Tobacco Permit is granted
Educating yourself on State and Federal laws is a crucial step in being a responsible business owner or employee of a permitted establishment, as retailers and their employees are the first line of defense in preventing youth access to tobacco products. Currently, it is illegal to sell any tobacco product to individuals under 21 years of age. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, the following:
- cigarettes
- cigars
- e-cigarettes
- pipe tobacco
- smokeless tobacco
- electronic nicotine delivery systems
- vaporizers
- vape pens
- e-liquid containing nicotine
- cigar tips and filters or any other products made or derived from tobacco
Making a difference means knowing the laws and having the correct information. If you have questions regarding your tobacco permit and/or State and Federal laws pertaining to tobacco products, you may e-mail those to Nicotine@abc.alabama.gov.
