On December 20, 2019, the President signed legislation to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and raise the federal minimum age of sale of tobacco products to 21.

Effective immediately, it is illegal under federal law to sell any tobacco product to anyone under 21 years of age.

Making a difference means knowing the laws and having the correct information.

Under federal law, tobacco products include but are not limited to:

  • cigarettes
  • cigars
  • e-cigarettes
  • pipe tobacco
  • smokeless tobacco
  • electronic nicotine delivery systems
  • vaporizers
  • vape pens
  • e-liquid containing nicotine
  • cigar tips and filters or any other products made or derived from tobacco.
